Garden spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) — annual herb of the family Chenopodiaceae. In the year of sowing forms rosette of leaves and seeds. Leaves petiolate, large, round, oval or heart-shaped. Leaf blade smooth, bubble or corrugated.

In spinach leaves contain a complex of biologically active substances, which determine the nutritional and medicinal value.
